Barclays credit union development programme moves into year 2

City Sense provides expert support

With over 19 years' experience as a credit union officer, volunteer, director, Chair of the Board and Senior Manager, Helen is continuing her role as one of the expert associates on the national UK Credit Unions and Barclays Credit Union programme. Now in its second year; the programme will assist 10 credit unions from across the UK in capacity-building support. Last year's programme of mentoring included risk management,compliance, loan book managment, governance, staff and volunteer support and product development. Helen is delighted to be supporting 2 new credit unions as part of the programme.


Business Partnership looks to secure BID's next 5 years

With a December 2017 date for the re-ballot on the exisiting Business Improvement District not so far away; New Addington BID Business Adviser, Helen Mason is now prioritising the campaign for the yes vote and renewal of the New Addington BID. Said Helen "It may seem a long way off; but everything we do from now on needs to emphasis the impact of the BID on the local Parade, remind local traders what services and facilities provided by the BID and the sad reality of how much would be lost if it was no longer in New Addington."

Isle of Man celebrating the birth of its first ever credit union

Permission was given at the beginning of August for the first credit union in the Isle of Man. Based in Douglas, the credit union will provide an affordable savings and loans service to people who live or work on the island. Helen Mason is proud to be working in the team supporting the Directors of the credit union as part of the Barclays UK Credit Union development programme. "It is such an exciting time and such an honour to be working with the Manx CU team fromthe start. We will be working together to ensure it is a first class credit union and one the island can be proud of."
